If symptoms are severe, rapidly worsening or urgent, call 000 or seek immediate medical care. Do not delay professional treatment because of information on Herbilous.

1. General education only

Herbilous provides general information about herbs, essential oils, constituents, traditional uses, preparation methods, cautions and practical calculations. The material is not medical advice and is not tailored to your health history, examination, diagnosis, medicines, allergies or individual needs.

2. No practitioner–patient relationship

Using Herbilous, creating an account, using the guided finder or contacting support does not create a doctor–patient, naturopath–client, pharmacist–patient or other clinical relationship. Herbilous does not diagnose, prescribe or supervise treatment.

3. Speak with a qualified professional

Consult an appropriately qualified doctor, pharmacist or other health professional before using a herb or essential oil, particularly if you:

  • take prescription, pharmacy or complementary medicines;
  • are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding;
  • have a diagnosed condition, allergies, liver or kidney impairment;
  • are preparing for surgery;
  • are considering use for a child, older person or medically vulnerable person; or
  • have persistent, unexplained or worsening symptoms.

Never stop or alter prescribed medicine without advice from the prescribing professional.

4. Safety colours and cautions

Green, amber and red labels are navigation aids that help draw attention to relative caution priorities in the Herbilous library. They are not clinical risk scores, guarantees of safety or substitutes for the complete caution text. A “green” label does not mean risk-free.

5. Traditional use and evidence

Statements about traditional use describe historical or cultural practice and do not by themselves establish modern clinical effectiveness. Research quality varies, and absence of a listed interaction does not prove that no interaction exists. Where practical, Herbilous distinguishes traditional information, preliminary evidence and established safety concerns.

6. Doses, preparations and calculators

Amounts, ratios, extraction strengths and preparation examples are educational references. Product potency, plant identity, plant part, quality, extraction method and individual response can vary. Maker and formula calculators produce mathematical estimates only; they do not assess clinical suitability, product stability, microbiological safety, regulatory compliance or manufacturing quality.

7. Essential oils

Essential oils are concentrated materials. “Natural” does not mean harmless. Do not ingest essential oils merely because an online source suggests doing so. Dilution, route of use, age, pregnancy, pets, allergies, medicines and medical conditions require specific consideration. Contact the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 in Australia if poisoning or harmful exposure is suspected; call 000 for an emergency.

8. Plant identification and product quality

Incorrect species, adulteration, contamination and inconsistent products can cause harm. Verify botanical identity, plant part, source, storage and suitability. Do not consume a wild plant based solely on a photograph, common name or Herbilous entry.

9. No guaranteed outcome

Herbilous does not promise that any herb, preparation or approach will prevent, treat or cure a condition. Individual experiences and testimonials, if displayed, are not guarantees and do not replace reliable evidence.

10. Corrections

If you identify a possible error, please send the herb name, disputed wording and supporting source to info@wholesomepress.com. We welcome responsible corrections and update content as evidence changes.
